How to Tame Unruly Stationery on Your Desk

Come domare la cancelleria ribelle sulla scrivania

September is a bit like January. A month of new beginnings, the smell of new books, and projects to develop.

On the one hand, September takes us away from beach aperitifs and the breathtaking views we discovered on vacation. On the other, this month sparks an inexplicable desire to return to our daily routines with a renewed spirit, amidst a thousand good intentions for the season to come!

A good reason to go back to spending your days sitting at a desk is certainly to update your office supplies!

It's no use: even as the years go by, the enthusiasm for brand-new stationery remains the same as when, before the start of the school year, diaries and notebooks were chosen.

It is precisely the concept of the “untouched,” the inviolate, and the cleanliness of a blank page that encourages us to get to work.

So why not extend this mood to our entire workstation?

The order and organization of the work plan always reflect positively on the way we think and act.

An impeccable desk also keeps ideas at bay and makes us more productive.

It's easy to keep the promise of a tidy desk in September, you might be thinking, but what will it look like after months of work?

Spoiler : keeping everything in its place is NOT an impossible mission (especially now that Hiro has decided to launch 3 new home office items!).

Generally, it's enough to make a point of cleaning and tidying up your workspace every day before you clock out and keeping everything in its place, even during work hours. However, we all know that things often end up in certain places against our will (it happens to you too, right?). In this regard, I've compiled a top 3 of the most rebellious objects with the corresponding rules for taming them!

3rd PLACE: SHEETS OF PAPER

In third place on the list of naughty people are sheets of paper . They sneak behind furniture, emerge from the backs of drawers, and show their worst side on the desk by literally occupying it "transversely."

There are two ways to prevent your desk from being occupied by those restless people.

  • Take digital notes. Print as little as possible to avoid paper overload. There are apps that allow you to write with your fingers or a stylus. Printing less also helps the environment.
  • Make use of folders and document holders. Organize your papers into neat, easily accessible reams. The new Charta document holder is incredibly convenient: you can organize your papers horizontally and consult them without having to remove them. So you can quickly find what you're looking for.

      2nd PLACE: SMALL OBJECTS

The silver medal goes to the smallest objects : thumbtacks, paper clips, bookmarks, business cards, and pencil leads (the worst). They lurk everywhere, but then, when you need them, they're never there!

      • Use a magnet to hold tiny metal objects (staplers, paper clips, and pins) together.
      • Gather them in a multi-compartment container, trying to keep them separated by type. Domino has many compartments that you can use together or separately.

          1st PLACE: WASTE

At the top of the list of desk invaders is waste . That's right, those useless objects that pile up, taking up precious space.

Crumpled post-it notes, packaging scraps, snack and candy wrappers, used pens, and pencil shavings.

The best thing is to get rid of them immediately, without allowing them to settle in our workspace.

A beautiful wastebasket is what makes the difference: Exa is one of those you shouldn't hide under your desk, because it would be a shame not to let it be admired!

With these allies, I am sure, the rebel chancellery will have no escape this year!
